Thriving In The Desert

God takes everyone He loves through a desert. This is His cure for our wondering hearts. The still, dry air of the desert brings the sense of helplessness which is so crucial to the spirit of prayer. In this desert you’ll most likely come face to face with the in inability to live, to have joy, to do anything of lasting worth. You may feel like life is crushing you. But this suffering burns away our false selves created by cynicism or pride etc… You don’t care about what people think of you and so in this desert God’s best hope is for an authentic self. The Desert life sanctifies us. Many times you have no idea you are even changing, until you are out of the desert. Things that may have seemed important to you no longer matter. It is as beautiful process because while you are in this desert a window forms to the heart of God. Because of the desert, whatever it maybe, you will cry out to God. Cling to Him for dear life. You cry out to Him so long and often a channel is formed between you and God. Without realizing it you have learned to pray continuously. You need Him to get from one end of the day to the other. God becomes our water in the desert. He is our well. In this desert God takes us through He is faithful to give us His presence. The best gift of the desert is God’s presence.  Psalm 23 is a great depiction of His presence.

(My thoughts from what I have been reading and well just life..)
